Efficiency is better, yes, but then you do get loose points further down the road. If you really want Aimed Shot for Mortal Shots later, you have another 4 points to spend in rows 1-3 first. Go For the Throat + Rapid Killing is a popular choice, but it doesn't have to be that. There are times when you might prefer the melee AP bonus, especially for a Beast Master. (Maybe not vs. GFTT, but as opposed to RK at least.) If you go deeper into marks, after Mortal Shots, you put 1 into Scatter Shot, and then...? 4 more points, and you may or may not want Barrage, but it's unlikely you want Concussive Barrage, so there's more points that could go to Imp HM.-Arcazua, 70 hunter of Dark Legacy, Lightbringer

Send me your site feedbackI actually think in solo it does pretty good for 2 reasons:
1. Your pet now gets a huge bonus to AP - the slight bonus from your RAP you get, and then the bonus to AP from the mark itself. It basically doubles the effectiveness of hunter's mark to use this, as the same DPS bonus will be added to your pet (i.e. 45 RAP translates into like 3.2 DPS for you, and adds 10 MAP to your pet for about 0.7 DPS. Imp Hunter's mark would add the 45 AP to your pet, so you'd get an additional 3.2 DPS.
