build for pure PvP You go up in the Demonology    2010-02-09
A SLSL build is by a fair margin the best build for pure PvP. You go up in the Demonology Tree until you get Soul Link and up in the Affltion Tree until you get Shon Life (preferably gettingurse of Exhaustion along the way). DMRuin I have no idea about. SMRuin is going up in the Affltion tree to Shadow Mastery and up into Destrtion to Ruin. Doesn't work t...
goal here? Hmmm, resp and enrage it is    2010-02-08
Hmm, so flurry will be my main goal here? Hmmm, resp and enrage it is then. Should I just progress down the tree after that? And when should I go bk for DW spialization? I sound like a n00b, but I have zero xp with DW fury warriors. Always been all out arms, prot or a 2h hybrid like now. But now I regret that I never played fury before. I fell in love. I have a newfound ...
of a few sonds after the fight starts for you    2010-02-05
If I'm not wrong, there is a small window of a few sonds after the fight starts for you to go intoombat. That means youan'tharge. I think that's what the warrior was thinking. She would take the opportunity to get that extra rage before shean't. I usually wait till at least a Tlap or Sunder before Iharg...
Crash Twinsanity    2010-02-04
Crash Bandicoot, that rabid rapscallion of a PlayStation mascot, has fallen on hard times. His last major platformer, The Wrath of Cortex, met with a tepid critical reception, and the less said about Crash Nitro Kart, the better. A lesser mascot might have been carted off to Glover-land, but Vivendi is giving this bandicoot one more shot at the platformer bigtime. And to shake things up a bit, it's teaming Crash with Dr. Cortex, his arch-nemesis of, wow, eight years now. Is this the start of a glorious new lineage of Bandicoot-starring platformers? It's not the time to say, but this peculiar pairing certainly opens up some interesting new gameplay avenues. As you'd imagine, the circumst...
World of Warcraft UI Panel    2009-11-09
Among the many accomplishments of World of Warcraft, one of the unsung innovations with the greatest impact was the ability for users (fluent in LUA scripting and XML) to customize the game's interface. The user community embraced this idea, creating thousands of interface mods for every use. Crafting? Gathering? Raiding? Healing? Maps? Whatever your play style, someone's figured out a better interface display to help. Many of these ideas eventually worked their way into the main game interface. Needless to say, Blizzard adamantly supports the online community, in part with an annual BlizzCon pan...
WarCraft III: Reign Of Chaos     2009-10-24
Rites of PassageHogwarts cameo? Real-time strategy franchises tend to attract fanatical followings, from the legions of Command & Conquer fanboys to the near religious fervency of Total Annihilation devotees. None more so, however, than Blizzard's WarCraft series - and its futuristic spin-off, StarCraft - a series of RTS games which have honed to perfection a formula which balances relatively simple gameplay with surprisingly complex mechanics, innovative graphics and a healthy dollop of bizarre humour. It's a long time since the last game in the series grabbed the attention of the strategy gamer, making WarCraft III one of the most anticipated PC titles ever; can it possibly live up to the legacy of its forebears? Set years after the conclusion of WarCraft II, with orcs and humans living in an uneasy co-existence, much has changed in the lands of WarCraft. For a start, they're entirely rendered in 3D now; from the intricately animated menu screens to the often stunning battlegrounds, every element of the game has been given a polygonal, texture-mapped makeover. The interface, which will be immediately familiar to fans of StarCraft, even features animated 3D portraits of each character you select - right down to the bored-looking sheep who occasionally wander through the map. Purists need not worry, however, as nothing has been lost in the conversion to 3D. The basic gameplay of the series remains intact and, perhaps more importantly, the character and humour of the art in the original WarCraft games has been moved seamlessly into the third dimension. Blizzard were perhaps wise to wait until 3D was quite mature before releasing this latest game in the series; uninspiring, badly textured models would have ruined the feel o...

WoW's 11th-hour server issues continue    2009-09-22
As the axiom goes, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. If that's the case, Blizzard's doing a pretty good job of setting up for the launch of Wrath of the Lich King at midnight. As many World of Warcraft players have undoubtedly noticed, the servers have been down off and on since the regular Tuesday maintenance window. However, history has shown that launches have been generally unkind to Blizzard's servers. Afte...

Roleplaying Moria    2009-09-07
A few weeks ago, RoleCraft covered some roleplaying tips concerning a few of the new additions to the latest World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. Another major MMORPG expansion was released a few short days after that, this one being the Mines of Moria for Lord of the Rings Online. Like Wrath of the Lich King, Mines of Moria comes complete with its own set of new additions, including locations, two new classes, a new legendary items system, and more. For us roleplayers, the opportunities for quality roleplaying has increased tenfold at the very least, and I'll be sharing some advice and tips for roleplaying in and around the Mines of Moria in this edition of RoleCraft.Compared with all the most popular and successful MMORPGs, the lore that LotRO...
